TDC Now offer Level 2 to Level 4 qualifications in Accident Investigation and Research and Health and Safety
TDC
Training and Development now provides students with awards from level
2 through to level 4. At national and Local Level thus meeting the
needs of both the student and potential employers.
All our certification is through awarding bodies such as City &
Guilds and the Open College Network.
This has come about through TDC staff designing effective teaching
methods and resources linked to achievable outcomes that fully justify
the award presented to successful TDC students. The accident investigation
and research course is structured in such a way that allows the student
to gain knowledge and skills through a series of credit based learning
units. The student can thus learn at a rate most suitable to him/her.
All units within the training scheme provide the student with transferable
skills which is what the market requires.
Leading insurance company employees select TDC as their training provider
Tony
works for one of the country's leading insurance companies settling
all types of claims. Advancement within his industry would certainly
come through the gaining of an approved investigation qualification.
Tony and TDC actively encourage the mixing of students as this provides
students who are new to the industry with a greater insight into the
work while also establishing good industry contacts for the future.
Claims companies train with TDC
You
would of course expect people already in the accident investigation
world to know what is required from a professional investigator. However,
new legislation means that those within accident investigation know
the value of a valid qualification and so seek out TDC training which
provides a valid qualification.
New legislation led Andrew to gain his recognised qualification with
TDC.
A friendly approach ensures co-operation
Site visits are undertaken by TDC investigators to establish the true nature of the accident.
Eve, pictured here, demonstrates a friendly approach to gaining information by introducing
herself and the purpose of her visit with a smile. Prior to completion of the course, Eve
decided to specialise in personal injury investigation work and has already taken up an offer of employment.
Stolen car case called for criminal investigation
A serious accident occurred when a stolen car being driven at high speed hit an innocent
motorist with such force that it completely turned the innocent motoristÕs car onto its roof.
Thankfully no serious injuries occurred. TDC investigators were quickly involved with the
investigation. The TDC recognised training/qualification is the only one of its kind dealing
with criminal and civil investigation procedures.
Our association with the emergency services
The
long association TDC has with the emergency services continues. Over
many, many years we have trained for the fire and ambulance services
with TDC students also undertaking investigations on behalf of police
officers. The emergency services are of course looking for the most
up-to-date training, leading to a recognised qualification. Over the
years they have come to depend on TDC to provide high quality training
that fully meets their needs.
TDC pick up the pieces
David
and Colin recently retrained with TDC and received a recognised qualification.
They had both attended a course which made promises of guaranteed employment
and ongoing support for their students through various companies and
agencies that had been set up. However, on completion they found themselves
with a non-recognised certificate in accident investigation issued by
the training school, and as far as guaranteed work is concerned, David
and Colin now advise everyone to read the small print and check why
any firm should trade under so many names.
Former students
David
trained with TDC some years ago, so when his work brought him back to
the area he called in to tell us how well he was doing. Working for
insurance and law firms David retains a very professional yet relaxed
approach to dealing with clients. While he was training with us his
enthusiasm for learning was very apparent and he has lost none of that
enthusiasm. We wish him continued success.
TDC joins up with top specialist law firm
TDC have joined forces with yet another of the country's leading law firms. Working with specialist teams set up within these law firms, TDC now has almost instant access to legal advice on all matters relating to the work undertaken by our students once they commence employment. TDC students thus have a direct line to advice and support while working through their investigation work. With law firms often attending our courses, TDC students really do get an insight into the internal working of both small and large law firms.
Family injured in road traffic accident
Within days of completing his course, TDC investigator Mark was investigating the serious road traffic
accident pictured right. The car which contained a family of three together with a fourth
passenger was in collision with a bus travelling in the opposite direction. The forces of
the impact caused serious injuries but, thankfully, no fatalities. The training and
qualification that Mark received as a result of attending the TDC training course allowed
him to complete a very professional investigation in accordance with the rules of evidence
and in complete adherence to court protocol.
Industry recognised qualification - Is this is another way of saying sorry, it's a non valid qualification?
Concern is growing over the qualifications of investigation staff involved in the gathering of information/evidence as part of personal injury claims. Some companies are said to be using individuals with no recognised training qualifications in accident investigation techniques. With Government initiatives now seeking to ensure that recognised qualifications are obtained in relation to specific fields of work, the problem of unqualified investigators will hopefully be removed.
The TDC course provides a valid recognised qualification in accident investigation issued by outside authorised governing bodies.
6 people involved in fraud claim
TDC fraud investigators could not believe a simple accident could lead to the level of claim made by two families involved in a minor collision. Three family members from one vehicle and four members of another family travelling in the second vehicle all made high level personal injury claims after the low speed collision. Detailed observation and investigations revealed that only one person had suffered a minor injury as a result of the collision and two of the claimants had not even been present at the time of the accident. Had the matter not been fully investigated, then the insurance company stood to lose a great deal of money. The recession has without doubt increased the number of claims made as money problems hit more and more people.
Over 2,000 vehicles on the road in any one day
When a company has 2,000 vehicles on the road each day, accidents can happen, and claims from even minor collisions can have an enormous effect on companies' profit margins. TDC have been in discussions with a major UK company who wish to reduce the level of risk through a planned training and response approach to accidents involving their vehicles. With qualified investigators throughout the country TDC is well placed to meet the company's needs.
TDC staff return to college
Elements of TDC's new forensics course have been incorporated into foundation courses for students who wish to go on to seek a future career in Forensic Science. TDC staff delivered the modules which included impact and speed calculation techniques together with first officer attending syndrome. Further modules are now to be developed for inclusion into undergraduate courses. TDC has a very long established association with educational courses at all levels and were very pleased to provide the expertise in the development and delivery of this module.
John completes research course
Following completion of his Accident Investigation course John completed a research investigation module at Level 3. Now working within the public sector, John has put his new found knowledge to effective use. Continuing to develop his skills John is now moving towards a second successful career. TDC will continue to support John, pictured below, in achieving his ambitions.
Law firm keeps it in the family
When Carl wanted to join his father's successful firm of solicitors he knew that real qualifications would be an important factor. After a great deal of research he decided that a Level 3 qualification in both civil and criminal investigation procedures would prove to be very beneficial in his plans for a career in Law. With TDC providing the only course of this kind with recognised attainment levels within criminal and civil investigation procedures, Carl completed the TDC Level 3 accident investigation course. We feel sure that he will make his father proud of his achievements.
Top job for former TDC student
TDC were very pleased to supply a reference for a student who originally trained with us back in 2003. After completing the course he went on to work mainly within the fraud personal injury investigation sections. This student has kept in constant touch with his trainers at TDC who are very pleased that he is now to head up the fraud risk management of a major UK company. His duties may also include the setting up of an arson and marine investigation unit to work throughout the UK. We wish him continued success.
No negligence due to naked cyclist
When a driver ran into the back of a car stopped at the traffic lights, he believed he had a valid reason for being distracted. The distraction, a group of naked and semi-naked cyclists were in the process of crossing the traffic lights. So as to be believed when the police arrived the motorist took a picture of the offending cyclists who were part of a student fund raising outing. After viewing the photograph the police officer took off in the direction the naked cyclists had last been seen travelling, probably to take down a few details!
